Called the faggots for a last minute movie. Too bad sam can't escape from home and Novea and plans.. So. Oh well...
The companionship from Ying was enough. :D

Mamma Mia
Overall, I enojoyed the show and definitely made me wanna sing along which a lot of aunties behind me did. I personally like to call it...

MAMMA MIA
THE RETURN OF THE AUNTIES

and NO. I am not the aunty.

WARNING. MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS.

Lets do a simple breakdown of the movie.

The Plot:
Sophie (Seyfried) is getting ready for her perfect wedding, except for a father to 'give her away'. Not 1. not 2 but 3 fathers appeard after receiving a letter written by Sophie.

Well in this movie, Donna (Meryl Streep) kinda felt like she was lead actress rather than Sophie. The story no doubt revolves around Sophie, but ultimately Donna had the most screen time compared to the other characters.
I liked the scene in the preparation room where it really potrayed the mother-daughter relationship. So real. So authentic.

The Boos? I believe in most tele-musical that I've watched (Dreamgirls, Hairspray...), the subtitution of dialogues to songs slowly became irritating after a while. I was like.. "not again..." *groans*. It wasn't THAT bad compared to Dreamgirls due to the fact that the songs from Mama Mia were popular Classics by ABBA.

Secondly, I didn't really enjoyed the ending. It seems fake. If I am not wrong, the show its an adaptation from a book. I mean, a thrid of a daughter? A sudden cancellation of wedding but still in love, True love found (including the gay relationship) and a last minute acceptance of a marraige proposal. Hmmm... Isn't a bit too-good-to-be-true thing? Not that it cannot be achieved, but i guess due to the time limitation, the structuring and building of this ending could be better.
Then again, its just MY PERSONAL OPINION.

Music:
1 word. SHIOK! 2 words. WAH PIANG! 3 words. OH MY TIAN.
Haha. Classics from ABBA. What can I say. I have been listening to these songs since wat, primary school? Hey, the old, black, dusty ABBA album is still somewhere in the house man..
I loved loved the way some of the songs were told in the movie. MY favourite of all was the 'dancing queen' track. Haha. I was SO entertained by the simple dance moves, the artsy camera angles and the oh-so-sweet vocals. I must say, the cheography of the moves and positions are really good. A little of the sixties, seventies moves but with incorporation with the new school, funky jives. I became a whole new fresh routine! Having a whole bunch of topless guys dancing really funny and RANDOM moves, dancing queen was my no. 1 man...

OH! the mother-daughter song was really nice too. As said. The Authentic feel was present. I felt the gratefulness, the priceless appreciation from Sophie and at the same time, the protectiveness yet achievement feeling from the mother. It just puts a smile on my face, thinking of my mummy at home. :D

I totally enjoyed the simple remix of the songs. Some short pauses here and there, addition of simple drum funky beats. Nice change of music yet keeping the flow and tone of the originals. Vocal-wise.... Ok lah. Though MOST of the songs were sang by the casts, I felt that it sounded too much like ABBA? Besides the solos of course.

Casts:
I liked the 'mixture'. Some new faces to me at least. Oh. I din know Meryl Streep could sing THAT well! Her solo was great. Plus her long years of experience in the film and theatre line. Her grade A acting skills and expressions to accentuate the meaning behind the song. Gosh. I was pulled right into the film. Eyes closed to admire her precesion of her angelic voice. Nice. Nice.

Ok. Typical film lah. The actors are definitely of a certain standard. Nothing much to talk about them. But the singing trio were really hilarious. Haha! Rosie (Julie Walters A.K.A Molly Weasley from the Harry Potter series), Tanya (Christine Baranski) and Donna ROCKS! The comical actions and random unexpected props are just entertaining to watch.
Ok. Christine Baranski is not your typical star-like actress, but her hidden talent inside is just much more then you ever expected.

Others:

1 thing I noticed. Maybe its just me or my eyes lah. I thought that the make-up this time on the casts were lesser compared to other films? I could see their layered wrinkles, droopy eyes, all that. I think it just adds to the authentic feel of the show? I kinda like it that way. Or really. Its just me. Hmm.?

Ok. Enough of the movie. Just go and watch it.

Trust.

A simple 5 letter word which basically summarises my near 18 years of life. I somehow had it on hand, but had to let it go eventually.

I don't see it as something which comes and goes at my command, but rather something which I was given by the people around me; a chance to use this gift to its fullest potential in a given time frame. Once over, its over.

"I want this valuable 'gift' from you badly. Please. Trust me."
